OBJECTIVES

The objective of the conference is to present the results of the UNESCO FRIEND (Flow Regimes from International Experimental and Network Data) research programme that have stimulated international cooperation to meet local and regional needs. A focus of the conference will be to discuss how advances in analytical techniques and process hydrology are improving our assessment of water resource variability and the impacts of environmental change. The conference will give a high priority to establishing links with related international programmes and with related disciplines of groundwater hydrology, ecohydrology and climatology.

CALL FOR PAPERS

Papers are invited which address one of the four topics of the conference. Participants intending to present a paper or poster are requested to complete the attached provisional registration form and send an extended abstract in English or French of 300 words to the conference secretariat. Abstracts must reach the conference secretariat by SATURDAY OCTOBER 31st, 2009. Authors should identify whether the paper is submitted for oral presentation or as a poster and state the topic number that the paper is submitted to. Eg 2. Adaptation Strategies-Transboundary waters. Papers will be selected following a review of submitted abstracts and will be pre-published in the IAHS conference publication series (Red Books). Papers may be submitted and presented in English or French.

FRIEND PUBLICATIONS

In addition to the conference proceedings (IAHS publication), a FRIEND Report, presenting a synthesis of the FRIEND activities for the period 2007-2010 will be edited by regional FRIEND groups and published for the conference.

Registration Fee

The registration fee will be approximately 300 € (Euros), which will include a copy of the proceedings, FRIEND Report, conference reception and lunches.
